On (day 3) i developed an extreme reaction to around 300ml of water.
Update: Now that i remember correctly, i developed this reaction to water even on the first day. When i sipped my water just a tiny whee bit too fast, i got this rush of symptoms, but it only lasted for around 10 minutes. During the first day i didnt think much of it.
I also want to say i am a mentally very strong person and im able to endure alot. But this has me brought me down to my knees. I can tolerate agony only for so long until i am broken.
These symptoms didnt subside. I stopped eating and drinking, but they kept on. Because of how severe the symptoms were, i researched extensively. It made me believe i drank too much water and was developing a brain edema (possible after extended Dry fast). I went to the hospital 6 hours later to get myself checked (symptoms still there)
A CT scan of my head and my blood test was good (blood tests below)
I went home feeling better. I drank 100ml water slowly and got the same symptoms immediately but on a lesser scale.
I was able to eat a little with no issues it seems.
My refeed journal day by day:
- Basically your variation of the filonov protocol the first 3 days with slight adjustments in amounts and types of foods.
- Yannicks refeed/scorch from day 4 onwards
Day 1:
- 100ml of low fat kefir,
- 2 liters of water (teaspoon, sipping) slowly throughout the day,
- 300mg magnesium glycinate, 600mg potassium chlorid
- 0.2g salt from the kefir
Day 2:
- Same as day 1 but with:
- 200ml kefir
- A little amount (maybe 150g, its a soup) of cooked buckwheat, white rice, lentils, broccoli, carrots, potatoes. Cooked for 3 hours, eaten very slowly (over an hour)
- 1.5 liters of water
- around 0.4g salt from foods
- So far no issues at all. Little urine but lighter in color
Day 3
- 300ml of nettle tea at 12:00 and around 300g of Buckwheat/broccoli/carrots/brown rice/potatoes soup, eaten/drinken faster than usual (in 20 minutes?)
After 15 minutes following happens:
- Extreme dizziness, that gets better when i stand up
- slightly nauseous
- hot flashes
- heart racing
- Strong sense of anxiety (never had anxiety in my life)
- Difficulty to think and talk
- Head pressure around my entire scalp
Day 4:
Overall: 300mg magnesium, symptoms under control because i barely ate and drank this day
- 12:00: i eat 1 pear, 8 grapes and a sip of nettle tea and the same thing happens, mildly severe.
- ate 2 tabs of active charcoil in case of herxheimer theory
- 16:00: Still reacting to last "meal". Now: 1 sip of my soup, immediate reaction after 2 minutes, extreme sense of anxiety and hot flashes, heart racing, dizziness (should be impossible after 2 minutes)
- Overall: faster and more severe reactions to less intake
- 18:00
- Went to hospital, symptoms slowly got better over 4-5 hours (no food/water intake).
- 23:00
- Come home, sip a little bit of water and get instant reaction
Day 5:
Overall: symptoms progressively getting worse and worse through the day
- 11:00: Drank 100ml of nettle tea in the morning, medium strong reactions as always (dizziness, hot flashes, anxiety).
- 13:00: still suffering due to that 100ml, thinking about turning this refeed into a water fast. Urine and stool have become more
- 14:00:
-drinking water with a teaspoon and letting it sit in my mouth increases the symptoms to unmanagable levels, unable to take in any amount of water now.
- last time i vaped
- 17:00:
- dizziness and anxiety persist, no matter my posture,
- trying to drink electrolytes (magnesium/potassium + others)
- new symptoms: skin is crawling everywhere, body feels like im plugged to a big battery. Changed vision that makes me think im on drugs and are giving me mental breakdowns (cant take it anymore). Very close to taking benzodiazepams in order to stop this.
- 19:00:
- Somehow able to tolerate plain water. Still suffering, still extreme symptoms, but symptoms dont increase this time after drinking water
- Drinking water mixed with potassiumchloride increases symptoms in seconds???
- eaten some of my fruit soup, 2 bananas and some fruit juice. No immediate increase in symptoms, still suffering though
- used the chance to take cetrizine, aspirin, l-theanine, NAC, multivitamin (neither helped directly)
- happy i was able to eat food and drink water with no reaction.
- cannot take the psychological horror of the visual and auditory changes anymore, took 0.1mg of alprazolam (benzo)
- 19:30
- Urinating and pooping a healthy amount from water and food intake
- cannot feel the benzo yet,
- took 100mg of Vit B1 as per user post
- 20:00
- Feeling calmer, trying to figure out if it was the Vit B1 or the benzo. Took another 100mg Vit B1
- Nervous System feels like it was just burned through after 6+ hours of suffering. Extreme stress are probably causing visual changes
- Skin is still crawling, still feel drugged like by psychedelics, running around in circles. Heart has settled tho (benzo?)
- Very scared i have to keep taking Benzos in order to endure this. Scared they will stop working. Scared of dependency. Scared im making things worse by using them
- 20:30
- Vagus nerve and breathing exercises in order to calm down more, trying to prevent myself from taking more benzos
- skin stopped crawling/needling (benzo effect probably)
- good sip of water, still no reaction
- Most patterns/reactions do not mean much now that ive taken the benzo, exercises seem to help though
- ate a banana and a piece of watermelon too fast, unfortunately got flush of anxiety, heart racing and dizziness (despite benzo)
- overall feel better, trying to figure out how to sleep tonight and how to overcome next day. Scared of the next day, scared of taking more benzos.
- still trying to determine wether a water fast would be better for me right now
- Note: urinating alot and very well this day
Notes for this day: Reaction to water seems to always be there. Once the symptoms set in after drinking water, they stay. Drinking more water (very slowly) doesnt make them much worse, they just stay.
Day 6:
- 09:00:
- unfortunately woke up with persisting anxiety and crawling/tingling skin and slight visual effects. Body is under stress from so much suffering
- these symptoms are distinct from what i get after drinking water. They are more like symptoms of my body being under stress too long
- sipped 100ml of water slowly and got flush of symptoms 5 minutes later (hot flashes, extreme dizziness, heart racing)
- devestated im going to keep living like this
- 10:00:
- took ashwagahnda, l-theanine, NAC, magnesium Glycinate
- drank 200ml slowly since 09:00 and feelings of anxiety, hot flashes, skin tingling are intensified each time i sip. Mental breakdown and crying
- 11:00:
- at my doctor, asking for help while in tears, trying to explain what i did and trying to give as much information as possible
- doctor is putting me in a room and giving me IV solution (as im barely drinking water)
-as expected 0.9% salt made it much much worse. Blood pressure dropped to 100/60, mouth extremely dry felt like i was about to pass out
- Salt will spiral me down into emergency, big no no
- aborted the IV solution as there was no solution without sodium
- drinking plain water slowly made me feel better. (Better as in, i dont feel like collapsing anymore, still suffering obviously
- 13:30:
- Doctor did some blood tests and urine tests, gave me a letter so i can visit the hospital, said i should keep doing whatever is making me feel better
- results come in the next days
- Staying at my doctors so they can watch over me while my body calms down
- 15:30:
- blood Pressure now 110/70, blood oxygen 97%, HR 100
- leaving doctors, trying to ride my scooter but i cant. Broke out in tears as i feel so lost and helpless. Pushing my scooter home for 30 minutes
- can barely walk, dizziness too strong
- up until now, extremely out of breath and barely able to talk, suffering more than yesterday in total
- 16:00:
- at home now for 30 minutes. Pure Potassium Chloride arrived today. Mixed 2g (1g pure potassium) with 300ml water, sipping very slowly
- First time able to take in potassium without anything else
- took 150mg Mag Glycinate, 100mg B1, NAC, L-Theanine, multivitamin
- 16:30:
- Big Rush of calmness and my Nervous System seemingly calming down. Almost unpleasent but symptoms of skin crawling are less. Potassium working
- HR slowed down, overall feeling better.
- 17:15
- unfortunately getting rushes of increased symptoms from sipping potassium water. Potassium still effective though
- took another B1 and Mag Glycinate
- 17:30:
- still sipping potassium water, dry mouth gone
- ate a banana and drank some fruit/coconutwater juice (first food today). No reaction
- 18:00:
- feeling slightly better
- sipped halph of my potassium water so far
- took more B1 and Mag Glycinate
- 19:00:
- I dont know what happened, but im feeling much better. Symptoms still there but something is different. Is it the "overdose" of B1 im loading up on since day 4? The Magnesium glycinate? The Potassium Chloride i started drinking today? The food starting to help now even though it didnt the last days? I dont know, but i keep going. Crying tears of joys but still scared
- skin burning/crawling/needling gone
- 21:00
- drank my potassium water since last timestamp, took Mag Glycinate, ashwahganda, NAC, Taurine, Aspirine, Cetrizine, iodine, multi-vitamin
- rushes of symptoms here and there, something is still different, still feeling better overall
- dizziness set in, can be from the glycinate/ashwagahnda
- ate around 300mg of my fruit/brocolli soup, no reactions
- 22:00:
- drove around city with my scooter, crying and screaming my lungs out for feeling like a human again during this time
- 23:30
- Melatonin, Taurine, NAC, L-Teahnine
- 50g of cooked salmon with skin
- 100g of brocooli/fruit soup (very slight and short lived reaction)
- happy i didnt have to take a benzo today. Feel ready to go to sleep. Will update tomorrow on a hourly basis. Still a little scared but hopeful now.
Day 7:10.12.2025
(08:00):
- woke up after just 6 hours but feeling somewhat refreshed
- nervous system has seemingly calmed down, dont feel like im on a overdose of drugs anymore
- still obviously beat down from the the last days though
- after sitting down at my desk, small rush of anxiety and increased heart rate (orthostatic intolerance). Slight panic for a second, but realized i have to expect this with everything thats going on. It calmed down very soon
- ate 200g of broccoli/fruit soup, no reaction
(08:45):
- slight rush of symptoms unfortunately. kind of dissapointed
(10:00):
- unfortunately, still reacting (but not badly). Took, Magnesium, ashwagahnda, B1, TUDCA, Taurine, Probiotics
(11:30):
- still reacting. Not badly, but its there. Trying to distract myself somehow
- ate another 200g of my broccoli/fruit/coconut soup
- starting to get symptoms of having the need to do deep breaths. Not hyperventilating, but just deep breaths all the time
- very hot all the time and sweating
(13:00):
- unfortunately still reacting. Rush of symptoms after drinking pure coconut water. Very dissapointed and feelings of stress and doom are coming back
- skin (face, hands, legs) started tingling/crawling again
- symptoms increasing from drinking coconut water
(21:00:)
- Pattern Recognition: for some reason, drinking water (in any form) beginning of the day sends me into these symptoms for hours on end, and somehow my body is able to slowly tolerate it more the more hours pass. This pattern has been true for the past 3 days and today
- since the last timestampe i have been trying to distract myself as much as possible
- light walks in the nature of 30-40minutes
- driving around my electric scooter
- small little workouts (bunch of push ups and pull ups)
- lots of breathing work, trying out different methods. They help me with not going insane or going into another mental breakdown (though i still had another one today), but they unfortunately do not seem to lift the symptoms itself or make me tolerate water more
- went to the cinema alone
- overall just enduring the symptoms and trying my best to make time pass (time passes very slowly)
- writing down anything, being very religious about all of my food/water/supplements/electrolytes/everything and tracking everything
- currently experiencing slight symptoms after drinking coconut water, but like the last days, it always gets better during the day.
- backing down on certain supplements as per yannicks direction and trying to keep it to a minimum
- still debating wether i should go back to hospital and beg them for help. Idea is to get data on things i cannot test myself (insulin, glucose, inflammation markers etc)
- Scared of tomorrow. I expect to suffer, i just hope i feel a tiny bit better, i ask for nothing more
(21:30):
- debating wether i should turn this into a small water fast. My problem is water, not food (i dont react to food). Water fasting has always healed everything for me, minor or major. Maybe this is what i need right now and this refeed is stressing my body too hard. Maybe i need to heal my body through water fasting, while drinking water and that will get me back on track
(Note for this day:)
- its not just hot flashes anymore, i am actually much hotter throughout the day after drinking water, any second **this was due to food, in hindsight** . Sweating alot (havent had any sweat since my Fasting Period)
- urine and stool output seems adequate and healthy
Day 8 (Turning Point)11.12.2025
(11:00):
- slept alot
- shortly after standing up, unfortunately hit with slight rush of symptoms. Symptoms are similar to water/food reactions, but distinct.
- Body is probably just under extreme stress from so much suffering. First 3 days symptoms were only due to refeeding, otherwise not there
- managing though
(11:30):
- Experiment: I will abstain from water for now and instead start out with dry raisins (70g). Little water content but high in sugar (and other good stuff)
- Lets see how my body reacts. Before i would always start my day with water (like most people) or my food would always be high in water content
(12:00):
- at my doctors now, symptoms are setting in. Hot, tingling, increased heart rate and my body doing deep breaths on its own
- Blood Glucose measured at 132 (normal amount for what i ate)
- Temperature: 36.6
- Blood Pressure: 120/82
(12:30):
- got a hold of Benfothiamine at a pharmacy
(13:00):
- body is calming down from the first rush of symptoms from eating dry raisins
- Pattern recognition after this experiment: Looking at all reactions to water (and now to dry raisins), the deep breaths, the heat, Titans remarks about CO2 and metabolism, this MIGHT be a energetic/metabolic crisis
- Yannick has mentioned a energetic crisis
- This rush of symptoms came from raisins this time. This rush of symptoms had lasted for 8 hours yesterday, even longer the days before and today for just an hour and a half
(14:45):
- Test to confirm this pattern/theory:
- If we assume todays rush of symptoms/crisis has calmed down a bit already, i should be able to drink water/eat soup now without getting much stronger reactions
- This pattern has been true for the past days when the day was nearing its end.
- Drank/ate 200g of my fruit soup
- Took 150mg Benfothiamine, Multi-Vitamin with minerals important for B1-Therapy and the paraxodical reactions to it
- Took TUDCA, Magnesium Glycinate, ignoring other supps as per Yannicks direction
- going for a 40-minute walk now
(15:45):
- back home, its cold outside but im feeling warm and good
- was extremely cold during my 7WF + 7DF. So very distinct to how im feeling now
- NO INCREASED (OR SMALL) REACTION TO FRUIT SOUP AFTER FIRST RUSH OF SYMPTOMS(EXPERIMENT)
- Symptoms of extreme stress still there of course (dizziness, tingling skin, slight anxiety, auditory/visual sensitivity)
(16:15):
- ate another 100g of my fruit soup, lets see what happens
(16:45):
- no reaction to fruit soup
- ate 200g of watermelon (lots of water), 100g of dry raisins, 100g of fruit soup
(17:15):
- no reaction to last food/water so far
- todays episode/crisis has indeed ended very soon today
- expecting this pattern to continue over the next days until it has stopped completely
- Wondering if the B1 is helping me with this. Something is telling me it does
(18:00):
- drinking coconut water, eating banana, taking more supps
- i have clearly entered todays state of... not being in agony anymore much much sooner than yesterday
- considering how late i woke up and how soon i already feel great, the window of crisis has dropped drastically since i started actively treating my situation
(18:40):
- slight reaction to larger intake of coconut water
- HAVE TO PACE MYSELF AND GO SLOW, EVEN IF I FEEL GOOD
(21:00):
- drank coconut water, ate bananas, took more of the supps since last timestamp
- no reactions if i sip/eat slowly
- obviously still having symptoms from the extreme stress
- Yesterday i said all i was asking for is to simply feel a little bit better tomorrow, and i do
+ 4kg (10lbs?) since my refeed
- NOT SCARED OF TOMORROW
- READY TO TAKE ON TOMORROW WITH CONFIDENCE
Day 9 (Day of Redemption)12.12.2025
(08:00):
- Woke up with no dizziness, no skin burning/crawling/anxiety
(08:40):
- at doctors
- fasting blood glucose: 94mg/dl
- Temperature: 36,7 C
(10:450):
- ate 150-200g of dried raisins and a banana for next test until shortly before my next doctors visit again (trying to test my insulin response here)
(11:15):
- VERY SLIGHT RUSH OF SYMPTOMS
- getting hotter, body doing forceful deep breaths again
- no DIZZINESS, NO SKIN CRAWLING/BURNING, NOT HOT FLASHES
(12:00):
- at doctors again
- Blood glucose: 149mg/dl (not bad for coming out of such a extended fast i guess)
- temperature: 36,9 C
(12:15):
- Blood work from day 6 arrived
- Overall: Very good results (despite day 6 being a really bad day). Certain Markers indicating dehydration were elevated/reduced, but that was to be expected
- Natrium at 138 mmol/l on day 6(3 days ago). Should really start upping my salt intake now
- Free T3: 2.25 ng/l (2.04-4.4 ref range)
- TSH: 1.30 uU/ml (0.38 - 5.33)
- tested positive again on borrelia burgdorferefi (this time tested on certain proteins)
- negative results on Epstein Barr Virus
- Protein Markers (like Albumin) and Inflammation markers speak against Herxheimer-Reaction, even though those are not definitive ways to test for Herx-Reaction
(13:00):
- basically no reaction anymore to food and water (since i last ate). Sipped some coconutwater, no reaction.
- Very slight dizziness from the raisins and the coconut water, nothing more
- Feelings of stress and exhausting from the last days still there, but those stupid reactions to water are truly healing now
(18:00):
- since last timestamp almost symptom free
- slowly developed very small rush of symptoms after eating/drinking too much
- Starting to realize: Food and water symptoms seem to overlap a bit, but it still seems to cause 2 different reactions in my body
- Water causes dizziness (wobbly kind of dizziness), food doesnt.
- Water causes hot flashes, while food causes me to be generally hot all the time
- Water creates a weird kind of head pressure around my scalp, food doesnt
- Water creates changed vision and auditory sensitivity
- Water was the one giving me crippling levels of anxiety, which was probably the one symptom that really took the last toll on me and made me break down mentally (was enduring the other symptoms from water much better before this set in)
- Food gives me forceful deep breathing, but not water
- Food increases heart rate for extended periods in "normal amounts", water increases heart rate drastically in what feels like a mini panic attack
- Overall:
Food:
- While symptoms from food are intense, they are much more pleasent and really do feel like my metabolism and energy production is simply increasing.
- Food symptoms seem like natural and normal bodily reactions
- Food symptoms didnt set in until after the 4th-5th day for some reason
Water:
- Symptoms from Water are unnatural, weird, unpleasent, crippling and seem much more tied to my nervous system being in a state of extreme stress
- Water symptoms were there even on the first day, and began becoming much more severe and chronic the following days
- Anyways: GOTTA SLOW DOWN
(22:00):
- water symptoms have calmed down since reducing my water intake
- Reactions to food are pleasent and healthy, feel warm and energetic
- still keeping up my supplement game
(23:30):
- "wobbly" kind of dizziness is persisting for some reason. Feels like my head is tipping over constantly, as if you would try to stand up on a surf board
- trying to grab something thats infront of me is a challenge
- will have to do some experiements with water/salt tomorrow to check where its coming from
- not suffering from it, but very annoying
Day 10 (set-back)13.12.2025
(11:00):
- Unfortunately woke up with feelings of stress, anxiety, skin crawling, dizziness
- recognize this state from one of the other mornings
- didnt sleep well, dont feel refreshed at all
- I did eat/drink too much yesterday evening, perhaps it overloaded my nervous system
- Second time i have something that is just there and not as a reaction to food/water. I dont like this
- dissapointed as i expected to feel almost normal today, but trying to stay positive.
- Deep sense of anxiety/nervousness that i can feel in my chest is the most annoying one, its like a direct antidote to my willpower/mental strength
- Perhaps the benfotiamine is doing its paradoxical reaction? I dont know
(11:45):
- ate 100ml of low fat kefir/honey and a banana, 300mg Magnesium.
(12:30):
- small rush of deep breaths and heat (for maybe 20 minutes), no water symptoms though
(12:45):
- did Buteyko Breathing, it actually did help me calm down. It didnt diminish my symptoms from this morning, but it made mefeel better
- Perhaps symptoms from this morning really are just a stressed nervous system from eating too much yesterday and having bad sleep. Never had symptoms of stress (or stress itself really) in my life so the whole "its just stress" meme is new/unknown to me
- trying to figure out if it was too much fat/protein yesterday (ate 200g of salmon). Taking TUDCA for liver health but perhaps its just too much for my liver to process
(13:15):
- ate some 100ml kefir/honey
- deep breaths increasing a little bit
(13:45):
- Overall symptoms are increasing abit as im eating sips of my honey/kefir
- deep breaths returning
- Note to myself: Have to give myself some more time (in the morning) before i can safely assume "no reactions" to food/water
- Weirdly: Reactions to much larger/faster intake of energy/sugar yesterday morning was much shorter lived
- Still going to take things slower today though
(15:00):
- body and symptoms of "stress" have calmed down noticeably
- Reactions to food/water are still mild or non-existant. Atleast this pattern has reduced substantially
- As explained yesterday, i feel like i really know whats going on with my body when it comes to food/water
- But "Stress" symptoms with no known cause/trigger is still a mystery, maybe ill figure that out too the following days
(16:00):
- symptoms from food are there when eating something sugary. Doing Buteyko when i notice the deep breaths.
- Head Pressure around my scalp has come back
- Sidenote: Big shifts of electrolytes from increased sugary foods might be causing symptoms, as i have been eating way more food/carbs/fruits/calories the last days since tolerance to food/water has improved
- Needs for potassium have probably increased substantially. Will supplement extra potassium chloride (2g, 1g pure potassium) to my coconut water
(16:15):
- drank a bit of my coconut/potassium water and unfortunately got a rush of symptoms
- Dizziness, anxiety, hot flashes BUT ALSO DEEP BREATHS (from water)
- Cant be the potassium itself as the reaction happened too fast
- Note: this reaction is distinct to the symptoms of "stress" i woke up with, today
- Overall feeling pretty hot/warm though
- dissapointed i got another reaction from water, thought this shit is over
(16:30):
- Symptoms increasing, fuck....
(16:45):
- Buteyko breathing helped a little
- symptoms are reminiscent of how i felt a couple days ago when things were bad
- not as crippling but big setback from yesterday
- trying to tell myself its the Benfotiamine
(17:00):
- wobbly kind of dizziness from water is back
- drinking plain water gives me rush of symptoms
- Im ready to tolerate and accept other symptoms, but the reactions from water i do not. I do not want to accept that im getting dizzy and anxious and hot flashes from water. I cannot be reactive to water, that is just stupid
- trying calm myself down and not take this as a bad sign
(17:30):
- symptoms calmed down abit
- kept drinking a little bit more water just to "challenge" it, didnt get much worse after first onset of reaction
- head pressure in the back of my scalp + wobbly dizziness still there, trying to understand where they are coming from
- Wobbly dizziness from water ( i think it comes from water) is different to "stress" dizziness i woke up with today
(18:10):
- most symptoms have calmed down substantially
- wobbly dizziness persists
- Note: Even though i have just talked about potassium with Titan, i feel like i might actually be taking in too much potassium. Todays reactions came from drinking coconut water with potassium chloride. I cannot tell if it was just the water, or the high potassium might have played a role.
- Reasoning: Only once in one of my water fasts (june 2025) was i drinking too much potassium and i was reacting to it. I wasnt aware it was the potassium, until i went to the ER and i had high potassium. Ive thought about it, and i could swear the symptoms from it were similar to what i got today. Big correlation: I got deep breaths from todays coconut water (first time as a reaction to water), which is also what happened to me during this water fast with too high potassium
- This is just a theory, i might just be reacting to water and it has nothing to do with potassium.
- Really unsure about salt at this moment. Currently taking in just 1g of salt per day. Sodium was at 138 (ref range: 135-145) 4 days ago.
- Salt is a delicate factor after a dry fast and "salt behaviour" in the body changes drastically.
- Maybe i should trust the blood test and increase my salt tomorrow. No workaround but to just try it out.
- Happy the symptoms have calmed down a good bit and somewhat early. Day was still stressfull
(19:50):
- was outside doing things, felt good at first, but started getting some nervousness while walking around
- came home, ate some cooked rice and got a rush of symptoms for a short period of time (sigh)
- anxiety and skin crawling are back
(21:00):
- increased body temperature from the food
- Temperature: 37 C°
(22:10):
- body has calmed down alot, still lingering symptoms here and there but managing
- ate a big meal of watery rice/raisins/pineapple, feeling good
(22:30):
- REALLY thankful that atleast my nights/evenings are spared from agony and that im able to sleep.
- Couldnt imagine tolerating this horror at night
(00:20):
- drank some good amount of water and coconut water. Barely noticeable symptoms.
- WHY THE FUCK DO SYMPTOMS DECREASE BY SUCH A BIG AMOUNT OVER TIME/OVER THE DAY? WHY THE FUCK DO THEY COME BACK IN THE MORNING? (sigh)
(01:00):
- noticed in the shower my skin is reacting to warm water. It gets tingly and itchy. Remindes me of the hives that covered 30% of my body during the bad days of Lyme disease (i dont like this)
- overall have a feeling theres some overlapping with some of my lyme symptoms i had last year. Out of the 30 symptoms i had, there were 2 or 3 that kind of overlap with what im going through right now. Perhaps not a big surprise considering my lyme history plays a role and nervous system overreaction can look the same for different triggers.
- Overall much different experience compared to lyme symptoms though
- Going to bed now. A big Fuck You for tomorrow morning
Day 11 (step-forward)14.12.2025
(10:30):
- slept well
(11:30):
- so far, no symptoms or very very slight ones
- only slight anxiety in the chest
- Big Fuck You from yesterday seems to be working.
- Maybe i need a higher dose of Fuck You Tomorrow Morning before going to bed
(12:00):
- decided to "challenge" the reactions and eat/drink more than i usually would in the morning
- around 200ml of water, 100ml of kefir + honey, 2 bananas (yes thats alot for me)
- took my vitamin B stack, multi-vit and 300mg Magnesium Glycinate
(12:30):
- symptoms set in, but in relation very weak
- wobbly dizziness set in (very annoying)
- decided to go for a walk
(13:40):
- 40 minute walk, felt very good
- head pressure, wobbly dizziness and slight headaches are there. Seems to be a unique reaction to water from what i can tell
- wobbly dizziness and head pressure from water always there, even in the evening when i wasnt reacting to water anymore
- trying to understand why water is doing this. It kind of feels like my salt/aldosterone system is still out of whack and my brain is pulling too much water
- ate some 200ml of more kefir + honey
(14:10):
- so far, symptoms under control, actually decreasing since my first meal.
- no increase from kefir
- being cautious though, i learned from yesterday that symptoms can be delayed
(14:30):
- Realized today that while im trying to take all Benfotiamine Dependencies, i missed out on a crucial Magnesium dependency
- B1 -> Magnesium -> Vitamin D. So taking Vit D from now on. Starting at 2500 UI per day.
(15:00):
- Big meal: ate 400g of watery rice/carrot soup and 100ml of kefir, lets see how i react
(16:00):
- Very very slight rush of anxiety in the chest
- So far no reaction, feeling great. Wobbly Dizziness reduced
- Telling myself the Benfotiamine is helping and my supplement stack is getting on point
- another 400g of watery rice/carrot soup and 100ml of kefir
- 100ml of coconut water
(17:00):
- wobbly dizziness, but otherwise no reactions really
- feel like increasing my salt intake has helped alot. Currently taking in around 2-3g per day through food
(20:30):
- Wobbly dizzines subsided since i last ate
- ate a bunch of watermelon very hastily, ingesting way too much water, completely forgot about my symptoms for a second
- Very small reaction 5 minutes later
- Head pressure, slight headache and wobbly diziness are back though
(00:30):
- Ate alot, no reactions
- drank alot = NO WOBBLY DIZZINESS
- Today was a good day
- Obligatory Big Fuck You for tomorrow morning
- First time i feel completely symptom free i think
Day 12 (15.12.2025)
(10:30):
- woke up feeling somewhat groggy but overall fine
(11:30):
- so far no symptoms
- ate 200g of rice soup, 100ml of kefir, 200ml of coconut water
- Took 400% of B-Complex, 150mg Benfotiamin, 300mg Magnesium Glycinate, Multivitamin/Minerals, Probiotics, 2500IU Vitamin D
(12:30):
- very very small reactions an hour later, slight wobbly dizziness, slight heat
- slight headpressure and headache
(15:15):
- only lingering symptoms left since my last meal. Doing groceries now, going to start adding more protein and fats to my diet
(21:10):
- eating large meals and drinking larger amounts of water/coconut water has either no reactions or just very very short lived ones.
- Have a good feeling its finally over
- Will do a final assesment in the following days, trying to make sense of the whole situation
- Going to bed now
Day 13 (16.12.2025)
- Note for Day 13.
- Forgot to take my magnesium for just 8 hours
- started getting some intense symptoms of stress, muscle weakness (could barely walk), extreme brainfog (couldnt form a single thought), fatigue, irritation, anxiety, drowsiness. Overall very unpleasent
- Was confused as these symptoms were overlapping, but still quite distinct to what i was experiencing until now
- Rembered i forgot to take my Magnesium for this day.
- Took 320mg, after 40 minutes, all symptoms subsided. Rush of extreme calmness rushed through my body. Literal feeling of my nervous system calming down substantially
- Demand for Magnesium has reached extreme levels due to this B1 protocol. Have never experienced symptoms of low magnesium to such an extent in such a short amount of time
Day 14 (17.12.2025)
- Notes for day 14:
- Feel pretty hot all day long. Not the burning/hot flashes as reactions to food/water, but just pretty hot
- No symptoms but weird kind of brainfog creeping up on me, very annoying
- Started eating much more since the last 3 days so its probably due to that
Day 15 (18.12.2025)
Notes for day 15:
- had stool like 7 times today already. Not diarrhea, but just alot of soft stool. Stool wasnt soft at all the days before
- might have reached magnesium saturation? Was taking 700-900mg of it since day 3-4 i think
- Reactions to food/water are zero
- brainfog, drowsiness from yesterday still there and much stronger
- hard to think. "Clumsy" kind of dizziness (yes, yet another different kind of dizziness) set in
- Head pressure and headache (never had headache the first 12 days, only started appearing the last couple days)
- These symptoms are distinct in their patterns from what i was experiencing before
- Nauseous too
- started researching intensely, trying to figure out whats wrong
- came up with salt intake perhaps being the problem
- realized i wasnt paying attention to salt intake the last 2 days
- started drinking coconut water. Mixed 1.6g of salt and 400mg of potassium into 1 liter. Drank half of it over 2 hours
- symptoms started going away. Only clumsiness and head pressure left (a bit). Brain fog and other symptoms heavily lifted
- started peeing an ungodly amount after coconut/salt drink
- symptoms and reponse to salt intake, match symptoms of low serum sodium perfectly (based on my research)
- My body/brain/kidneys are still heavily confused and havent come out of the dehydration adaption yet. Electrolyte balances are completely out of whack and response to various amounts of electrolytes is chaotic and very sensitive
- scared my sodium went too low in the last days and today. Symptoms of hyponatremia werent severe (didnt throw up or went into paralysis), but potentially medium (based on research)
- correction of low sodium states is very very delicate
- the lower the starting serum sodium that needs to be correct, the higher the chance for Osmotic Demyelination Syndrome
- very scared of Osmotic Demyelination Syndrome. Feelings of improvement mean nothing unfortunately. ODS can set in days after salt was corrected too fast
- debating wether i should go to the hospital to get my sodium checked. If its low, i know im in risk and should stay in the hospital. Do not trust myself to correct sodium by exactly 5-8mmol/l per 24 hours just through self-medicated salt intake
- a couple hours later when i felt much better, couldnt believe it but actually got a short lived reaction from a little bit of water again. My system and my automatic regulatory mechanisms are completely fucked it seems
- Ate a ridicilious amount of food yesterday. Pretty sure this triggered my system to become chaotic again
- Increase in Food/sugar probably caused greater shifts of electrolytes into the cells/out of the blood, giving me reactive hyponatremia
- Osmotic gradient from the dry fast is probably still there. Osmolytes in my brain/body are probably still high. Both result in a adaption to serum sodium levels that are very sensitive to even slight drops
- Bodily adaptions/functions are still in this dehydrated state i assume.
- The strong reaction to having missed magnesium dose for just 8 hours might speak for this theory too
- After some further extensive research on ODS, chances of this happening to me are slim, despite the moderate severity of my low-salt symptoms
- Have to control myself with food until my body has learned to deal with shifting electrolytes better
Day 19 (21.12.2025)
- The last couple of days have shown that my body hasnt fully adjusted yet
- Overall i feel much much better and i can go through my day without much issue
- Weird things still happen though, mainly due to electrolytes.
- started to react to too much electrolytes i think. Sometimes i'd be drinking my potassium/salt water (800mg/3g/1.5 liters) and i would start getting muscle weakness, increased breathing, head pressure etc.
- I thought it cant be due to the electrolytes. But when i started drinking plain water, it would go away and i would start peeing like 1 liter in just 1 hour (this is my body/kidneys way of balancing out electrolytes). Maybe im saturated? I dont know, and i cant tell which of the electrolytes it is. I assume potassium
- drinking around 800mg - 1g of potassium extra, together with all my potassium rich foods. Perhaps i should stop as my body is finally getting the nourishment it needs from food alone
- Today ate 2 bananas and drank 1 liter of milk slowly over 4 hours, started getting slight muscle weakness, head pressure, headache. Lifted when i stopped
- muscle weakness points to the fact its an electrolyte issue, and not my nervous system. Muscle weakness was never a part of my nervous system reactions to food/water.
- Body is still doing weird things and adaption to dehydration/malnourishment isnt fully recovered.
- Like i shouldnt suffer from hyponatremia symptoms after eating little salt for just 2 days. And i shouldnt be getting symptoms of high potassium just because theres potassium in milk
- based on research, might have reset osmostat syndrome in reverse (for hyper-instead of hyponatremia)
- osmolytes in my brain are probably still there, as the "wobbly" dizziness still happens sometimes (brain is pulling too much water)
- Anti Diuretic Hormone and vasopressin secretion is still chaotic (peeing 1 liter in 1 hour, or barely peeing at all, or peeing reguarly)
- bodily reactions to water/electrolytes(salt) are healthy though (peeing when i should, not peeing when i shouldnt). Baseline is just still stuck in dehydration mode. Jumps in electrolytes and blood osmolality (like drinking water in the beginning) were met with strong reactions from my body, causing big shifts in blood pressure and blood osmolality, perhaps causing my nervous system to react this badly and giving me the crippling symptoms
- Proof my RAAS system is working: After correcting the reactive hyponatremia on day 15 with potassium and salt, started peeing a shit ton -> correct reaction from my body
- Nervous System Reactions to food/water are basically gone though. Currently just experiencing non-nervous system symptoms because my body is trying to adjust with varying levels of electrolytes, which it has problems with currently.
- sodium was 140 at day 4. This is after 4 days of very little salt and lots of water. My osmostat syndrome was fine-tuned for a much higher sodium level probably, which is why missing out on salt for just 2 days (day 13-15 i think) would give medium-strong symptoms of hyponatremia (low serum sodium)
- sigh.... have to wait this out i guess. Thinking about doing a short water fast to get my nervous system back to baseline. If things dont improve for another 2 weeks, i might consider it. Will probably not need it though
- Happy i created this journal to document my symptoms. When i look at everything, many things seem to overlap and be the same reactions to the same things, but typing everything out helped me to make the distinctions between all of them, as i realize they are definetely different reactions due to different bodily systems
- as per titans last video, might have to reduce my magnesium from 900mg to 750mg. Stool is soft and plenty. ca. 2 weeks of 900mg magnesium loading might be enough if i remember correctly. need to watch the video again
- thinking about how much worse this could have been if i wasnt as "autistic" about biology, medicine and research (or didnt research dry fasting for 6 months before i actually did it). So many variables, so many symptoms, so many different things going on with my body. Just figuring out i had reactive hyponatremia from day 13-15 was not easy. Could have easily missed that, attribute it to something else or think it was just another chaotic response from my nervous system. Doctors absolutely useless. Could have landed in the ER, they look at my sodium and think everything is okay.
I hope this never happens to anyone else
Day 24 (26.12.2025)
- Unfortunately had 2 very bad days the last 2 days (24.12 and 25.12)
- Symptoms were different to food/water reactions, but overlapping
- Symptoms were not in reaction to food/water. Drinking/eating didnt make it worse or better.
- Supplements/electrolytes didnt make it worse or better
- Symptoms just appeared in the morning and got progessively worse over the day
- Always symptom-free after 18:00 - 20:00
- Honestly dont have any opinion on the last 2 days. There was no pattern, no response to anything, no reaction, no behaviour. They were just there for no reason
- This is not good
- Scared i sent myself into chronic dysautonomia after this whole ordeal
- might have a couple theories as to what i did wrong to trigger this but its just guessing currently
- Today was a good day, feel much better. But unfortunately doesnt mean much by now
- Ate like 3500 calories of unhealthy christmas food (entire cake and so on)
Day 25 (27.12.2025)
- Not a good day today
- Somehow reacting to water/food or maybe not. Its so delayed that i cant tell if its coming from that. Reactions are coming 30-60 minutes after drinking/eating
- Reactions to it are different though. Symptoms im currently handling do not match food/water reactions that i was experiencing previously
- Overall im confused and kind of lost. Symptoms have changed and as said yesterday, there seems to be no pattern or behaviour
- Plan for the next 2-3 days is to start from zero when it comes to supplements and add them back one by one. Perhaps im overloading on something without noticing. Walking in the dark here but i just have to keep trial-error
- Dialing down on the amount of food im eating. Have been overdoing it alot the last days (like eating an entire cake in 1 hour). Today i will eat healthy and normal again
Day 26 (28.12.2025)
- Feel much better today probably because i was eating healthy yesterday
- Did react to food/water a little in the same way how i felt yesterday
- So new symptoms do seem to come from food/water, they just changed and arent as instant anymore as they used to be
- The fact that i feel better today tells me it was in response to me giving my body a break yesterday.
- At first i didnt think this was happening from me eating too much, because when i did feel good and symptom-free, i wouldnt get any reactions from food/water
- This is my theory: When i am symptom-free (when my nervous system is calm), eating too much wont send me into chaos right away. It takes atleast a day or two before my body starts getting chaotic again. Once my body is chaotic again, its when i start over reacting to even little food/water and it takes time for this flare to calm down. The last 7 days have been true to this trend quite clearly. I dont flare instantly anymore. I just start flaring after a couple days of bad food choices and this flare just takes time to calm down
- Have forgotten to mention that i was eating alot of unhealthy christmas food since 22.12
- My remarks the last days about symptoms not being in reaction to food/water are not really true. They are just so delayed that it makes me think that is the case.
- The fact that giving my body a break yesterday made me feel much better today is proof to that.
- 2 days ago (26.12), i was eating a enourmous amount of food. Like 3500 calories and maybe more. So, i was flaring yesterday (27.12) for seemingly no reason and despite eating healthy.
- This confused me. On a day where i eat too much, i feel okay. On a day i eat healthy, i flare for no reason. Its all just delayed and once it sets in, my body just flares, wether i eat or not.
- Will watch and see if this pattern holds true for the next day.
Day 27 (29.12.2025)
- Fortunately and as expected, still feeling much better today as i was eating healthy and carefully yesterday
- (New) symptoms from food/water are much less than yesterday, barely noticeable
- Have to give my body more time to adjust
- Overall the progression of my condition is like this: Instant strong reactions from food/water the first 3 weeks. Food/water would send my body into stress and chaos immediately. Now: Eating badly for a couple days is okay, stress accumulates until it is too much and my body goes into a flare once again.
- Fasting in the night/during sleep was enough to "reset" my nervous system back into a flare. Now it takes severeal days of eating badly to go back into this state
- Electrolyte issues do not seem to be there anymore. Able to tolerate electrolyte fluctuations without much issue it seems
Day 32 (03.01.2026)
- Theory has stayed true since last update. I ate healthy and small portions since last update and my symptoms got weaker and weaker each day.
- Today i felt almost completely symptom free
- As a test, eating bigger (but healthy) meals for today/tomorrow and see what happens.
- ate alot of healthy food late in the evening
- Insomnia at night, couldnt sleep for 2-3 hours
Day 33 (04.01.2026)
- For test purposes, ate alot of unhealthy food today
- 4 hours later, head pressure and weird body sensation
- EXTREME insomnia. Couldnt fall asleep for 5+ hours. Felt weird, inflamed, unwell
Day 34 (05.01.2026)
- Test results: Typical symptoms from food havent come back the last 2 days, but i am very obviously reacting to unhealthy and large amounts of food. When i eat healthy, i feel good. When i eat unhealthy, i feel very bad. My experiment the last 2 days has proven that. This experiment has also shown my body is tolerating more. I didnt get send into days of agony again and was able to bounce back today quite quickly
- Going to keep eating healthy
- Probably, truly getting out of the woods now
Points about the refeed:
- Around 0.2 - 0.4g of salt per day for days 1-3 (through food)
- mostly cooked fruit and coconut water since day 4
- Bhought/took supplements and started "treating" this crisis from day 4
- Everything very low fat
- All portion sizes were generally very small.
- Apart from the First Meal on Day 3 (when things got bad), everything was eaten/chewed/drunken very slowly.
- 2.8kg gained in first 3 days
- ca. 2 liter of water first 3 days (cumulative effect leading to my body being sensitive?)
- Overall i was very careful about my refeed
My Mistakes:
- Vaped nicotine around 3 times per day (three puffs in total per day) as i was not willing to go through a withdrawal throughout the experience
- Went from a 7 day Water fast into this 7 day Dry Fast
Some points about me:
- 30 years old
- Very fit and athletic
- Completely healthy for entire life, no history of any illness
- developed lyme disease 1 year ago (westernblot positive), developed MCAS, POTS, CFS through lyme
- Healed all (except the bacteria itself of course) through water fasting. Symptom free since april this year, directly after my extended water fast.
- Lived life normally since april, again absolutely no symptoms
- No history of any mental problems
- Very experienced Water Faster, like 3+ weeks of Water fasting = no problem (never had complications, ever)
- three, 3 day Dry fast under my belt before 7 day DF, no complications
Patterns/Notes/thoughts:
- Any type and amount of water gives me the same pattern of symptoms
- bloodwork is healthy on day 4 (hospital) based on bloodwork
- potassium 3.7 at day 4 (low in ref-range
- Symptoms usually start 5-15 minutes after intake
- One time, the symptoms set in 2 minutes after a tiny bite of soup
- Nervous System Hell Hole potentially coming from extreme herxheimer reaction, causing MCAS symptoms?
- Cetrizine has no effect on symptoms like it used when i had MCAS (maybe not allergic?)
- Very low CRP on blood test speaks against herxheimer?
- Drinking water jump starts symptoms for entire day. Keeping drinking water slowly for the day doesnt increase symptoms too much. First 3 days had 2 liters of water, following days much less. Reactive shock to water intake that build up over first 3 days, leading to this sensivity now?
What is happening to me?
Have i just broken my immune and my nervous system due to the "shock" of fasting?
How is it possible to react to 2 sips of water this badly?
I am scared to keep living like this. To be "allergic" to water
Im having an unusually difficult time right now. Im basically unable to drink anything right now and even watery food triggers these symptoms. One bit of my soup and im reacting more and more. Basically just enduring the situation right now.
I do not expect you to know whats up. Nothing of whats going on makes sense and nothing similar online can be found. Im usually very good at finding out whats wrong with me.
This scares me though, im lost at what im supposed to do now.
Any opinion is appreciated. I will go the hospital again when things go bad. Will probably need to go to my doctor just to hydrate through an IV. But i know they cannot help me.
My Blood tests from the hospital visit:
