Can you dry fast when sick?

Post by dryfastingboy »

I’m finally getting over a pretty rough flu, the fever’s mostly gone, but I’m still wiped out, achy, and just feel ‘off.’ Would it be safe (or even smart) to jump into a dry fast right now, or is that asking for trouble when my body is still trying to recover?

I think a video about the scorch protocol mentioned in passing, that it's best to wait until fully recovered, and then maybe "clean up" afterwards with a dryfast.

If you dryfast and lower your immune function, and the disease is not fully healed, you could make it much worse.

Dry fasting is likely to be an overkill, because the main idea is to take a short break from the stress of the immune system with food, so that it can solve problem faster.
Water fast for 44 hours on early stages always helps me.
As noted above, dry fasting is good for addressing residual symptoms after an illness

I'm never not sick so I wondered when would be a good time for me to fast. I simply tried it and figured I could stop anytime the alarm bell rang to do so. Instead, i found I was asymptomatic most of the fast, came out of it briefly and was symptomatic within an hour so I knew the candida was still running the show, and went into WF for several days (made the protein broth mistake but body was in overdrve so didnt matter). Seeing now the charts on cortisol's banana-chaos that had already taken me over on Day 2 and knowing me and cortisol are not friends, i t may be good I made that error, bc t calmed down the cortisol but got me just enough nourishment to keep going, and honestly after what amounted to a week of fast between the two, I have no candida symptoms now in any of my diagnoses. I would never advise someone in either direction, as I know it's bananas to assume we know one another's complexities medically on a screen, but in case it's any help that someone knows where you're coming from a bit...I get it! As opposed to the main DF books that are unanimousy like "you don't go day by day on a fast...you make a decision and stick to it", I can tell those peopel are not experienced at being sick or having to listen to their bodies as much as some of us are. But I would also say that I would not have stopped at day 2 if I had read the books first, bc I would have understood that my body was Exactly doing the right things then and that the sensations I was having were right on track.
I hope you find a way that you feel good about <3
